Coaching Application

We're looking for dedicated volunteer coaches who are passionate about developing youth baseball players across Southern California. All applicants must meet California state requirements for working with minors.

California Volunteer Coach Requirements

California law requires all volunteer youth sports coaches to complete the following certifications before working with players. LMB is committed to the highest standards of athlete safety.

Live Scan / Background Check

All volunteer coaches must complete a California DOJ & FBI fingerprint-based background check (Live Scan) before working with minors, per California Penal Code § 11105.3 and the Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA).

Mandated Reporter Training

California law (Penal Code § 11165.7) designates youth sports coaches as mandated reporters. Completion of the free California CANRA Mandated Reporter training is required.

Complete Free Training

CPR / First Aid Certification

Current CPR and First Aid certification is required per California Health & Safety Code § 1797.196 for all coaches supervising youth athletic activities.

CDC Heads Up Concussion Training

California AB 2007 (Concussion in Youth Sports Act) requires all youth sports coaches to complete the free CDC "Heads Up" concussion awareness training annually.

SafeSport Certification

Completion of the U.S. Center for SafeSport training is required to protect athletes from abuse and misconduct. This aligns with California SB 932 athlete safety standards.

Sudden Cardiac Arrest Training

California AB 1639 requires coaches of youth athletes to complete sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) awareness training before each season.
